Camerawork

1) Pick three camera shots from the Doctor Who scene, take a screenshot and explain what type of shot it is and what meanings or effect they have on the audience.
Medium Close Up shows the character lifting up a passport. The shot shows the character might be looking for someone making the audience curious.


The two shot shows the two characters in the scene looking into the camera. It shows that they are currently listening to some one on the screen.


The three shot shows three different characters. One is speaking to the camera while the other two characters are listening and the audience will focus on what he is saying.

2) Pick one camera angle that is used in the scene, take a screenshot and explain the effect it has on the audience. 

The high angle shot of the tower shows that their call to the doctor is happening and the audience will feel relieved that their plan has worked 

3) Pick one aspect of mise-en-scene from the scene, take a screenshot and explain what connotations are being communicated to the audience.


The setting of the scene shows a futuristic looking lab where the call is being made. It conveys that the call is happening with a lot of high technology devices because it is far away in another planet. 

 Extension task


The medium long shot shows the fear of the character because he has ran away from a creature and stands alone in the lift feeling nervous because he hopes the door will close in time. It makes the audience feel scared

The high angle shot shows the character looking up at the ceiling where the creature is. It makes the scene feel even more terrifying for the audience because they don’t know what will happen to the character next.
